Denia is one of the destinations on the Costa Blanca, in the Alicante province, preferred by tourists, both domestic and international. Its exceptional beaches, landscape and a charming old town make it a place where you can perform thousands of activities.

The Castle

The city is crowned by its Islamic castle, one of its greatest cultural and historical heritages. Its construction dates back to the Islamic period, between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, although there are representations of different architectural periods.

It’s a must visit which congregates a large number of people, which in summer is known for its outdoor concerts.

Churches and chapels

Among the churches and other relevant monuments in Denia, the following are the most important ones: La Asunción, San Antonio, Nuestra Sra. de Loreto or Las Augustinas, San Mateo Apóstol, and the chapels of Pare Pere, San Juan, Santa Lucia, Chapel of Santa Paula and Hermitage of Jesus Pobre.

Gastronomy

Denia has an important gastronomic tradition. His wealth is due to the fusion of the best seafood and the Valencian orchard, with renovated and high Mediterranean quality dishes. In the historic center we can find an assortment of bars, pubs and restaurants, greatly recognized not only domestically but also internationally.

Not surprisingly, there is the restaurant El Poblet, with the chef Quique Dacosta ahead, holder of two Michelin stars and considered one of the best chefs in the world. Among the most outstanding dishes of the cuisine of this coastal town, you can find: the red shrimp from Denia, the “arròs a banda”, the traditional “espencat” with roasted vegetables: peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, the “suquet de peix”, the sea urchins, etc.

Trips to other coastal towns

During your stay in Denia, there are excursions to other cities such as Alicante, where we can see the famous Palmeral, World Heritage, the fantastic beaches and recreational areas of Benidorm, or visit the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. It’s a transit point for boat trips to the Balearic Islands, thanks to a large and high quality shipping fleet.
